The Art of Dana Gabelhouse
General Guidelines
-
I withold the right to decline any commission, though I will always supply a reason as to why should this happen.
-
If I accept your commission, I will update the queue to reflect the slot belonging to you, and invoice you the amount due.
-
Please bear in mind that if I have CLOSED commissions, I will not be taking on new ones until I have completed the current task and opened them again.
-
If you wish for your commissioned artwork to remain private and unposted on my site, please let me know in advance.
-
Please understand that I will always draw/paint in my style, unless specified otherwise. If you are looking for me to do something in a specific style that you have seen me produce before, e.g art nouveau, please mention so before the commission starts.
-
You will be updated through the process with screenshots, and may be posed questions to better paint something to your liking. Please assist me as much as possible if there is something you want changed.
-
Estimated time of completion depends on the content of the image, but is usually complete within a month. If there are delays, you will be notified.
-
Commissioners should be aware of these conditions before commissioning my services.
-
Terms of Service are subject to change.
Payment
-
Payment must be made via PAYPAL or bank transfer.
-
Prices are not inclusive of any applicable transfer fees through PayPal.
-
Payment should be made 100% in advance.
-
I prefer payment in GBP but will also accept USD.
-
Please do not send payment without approval. I will send you an invoice prior to beginning your commission.
-
If you wish to tip me, please do so after the service is complete. Your feedback is really appreciated!
Refunds
-
Refunds are always an available option, at any time.
-
If I have already started work on your commission, you may not be refunded the full amount, but a deduction for the work I have already done will be made. E.g. You ordered a fully painted piece but I have only completed the sketch stage. You will be billed for the appropriate amount for the sketch, and refunded the rest. This includes if I cannot, for whatever reason, complete the piece, along with what I have completed.
-
I do not offer refunds simply on the bounds of someone changing their mind about my style. Please make sure it is what you want before purchasing.
Work Process
-
I do NOT ship hard copies of finished digital pieces.
-
I work on a first come, first serve basis. If your commission is in my third slot, you will be the third person in my queue.
-
You will, unless specified, receive at least one WIP proof of your commission. The sketch is the most crucial stage and once I have passed this, I will not be returning to it, so please ensure you are satisfied before I move on. How fast you respond to these WIP shots with your thoughts and directions may determine how long the time of completion is, depending on what adjustments you want made.
-
All commissions will be at a minimum of 300dpi, and roughly 2250x3000 pixels. Size may be subject to change, but will not be less than 2250px to ensure quality.
References
-
I do not accept text only reference.
-
Ideal references would be front, back and sides, and any close ups of important areas such as tattoos etc.
-
Any colour palette you have in mind would be appreciated.
-
Please be clear what is mandatory on your character. If something is not shown well in your references (or not at all) and not mentioned in your form, I am not held accountable for missing it. Adding them may cost an additional fee.
-
Any additional images that you found inspiring when creating your character are most welcome. I enjoy seeing potential themes, designs and colours.
-
For screenshots, please make sure the image is a good size and not blurry - 1000px minimum. Please make sure that you include shots of the face for frontal, profile and ¾, taken in a well lit area.
Use of Artwork
-
I retain all rights to the commissioned artwork, including the rights to make prints and merchandise. Do not redistribute, claim, copy, edit, or use it in any way.
-
The client retains all rights to their characters. This does not allow them to use the artwork for commercial use. They may crop and resize the image to be used as icons or wallpapers, but not change the artwork itself.
-
The client may produce physical copies of the work for personal use only.
-
The client may upload the full work to a gallery of their choice, but credit MUST be given where it is due.
-
The client may reblog from my tumblr, credit where due.
-
The client may not re-sell my artwork of their characters, deface, destroy or trace it for whatever reason.
-
If you wish to commission me for a commercial piece, please contact me about it so that we can discuss the details and pricing.
Please save your commissions! Do it more than one place too, make a backup! I will not be held responsible for carelessness in this regard. I do clean up my galleries every so often, so please keep a private save of the file, or if you want an online link, upload it to your own private image hosting profile.
If you cannot find a save or no longer have it, you may feel free to ask me if I have a copy. I reserve the right however, to deny a refund in this case, or redo the commission for nothing. Once you have purchased it and it is completed, it is your responsibility to make sure you keep the copy safe.
